  While he was here we asked for a quote to install additional recessed lights, he went out side for a few minuets and was back very shortly with an estimate labor and materials to do the install.

  The owner of the company came to my house in Pemberton to install a duplex outlet for my washing machine. He quoted me for at least 2.5 hours of time which would be about $250 plus GST. When he was finished in under an hour I was surprised he was still charging me $250 to which he responded that I had "put the gears" to him for a price and so he was making it $250 even though it took less than an hour. He figured 45 min each way commute time from Whistler (the drive is 20-30 minutes tops), $50 in "parts" which he did not elaborate on (in fact he admitted the parts were NOT $50 but since I had demanded a price and he quoted $250 he was padding the numbers in order to make it the $250 I was quoted). He justified it by saying that if he had gone over 2.5 hours for the work I would not have paid over $250. Actually, I had asked for a quote of what the maximum time it would take was and expected if it took less to be charged less. He was very surly and unpleasant to me in spite of the fact I was holding my baby.
